It's too bad that you couldn't flip those speakers down to where the desk is and the desk next to the double doors. Then, the couch flips over.
Otherwise, it's a good plan. The shelving will act to absorb reflections.
Strangely, I was visiting a buddy last week and we toed in his Altecs. It' was amazing that it just clicked into a 3D image. You'll know it when you hear it. It was fairly easy too. We just had one person back behind the couch like at your closet. Stand there and toe in until you can't see the inside edge of the speaker. Then, do the other so they look the same standing back in the middle.
If you can ever find a pair of Classe DR-9s, buy them. I love mine on any speaker and an old friend with the big SoundLabs swears by them. They rated as 100 watts in stereo, but can be switched to mono at 400 watts each and 1,100 watts at 2 ohms.
