Actually, the rated sensitivity of the MMG-W is probably lower than the ET woofers. Remember that Magnepan rates their speakers with 2 watts input vice 1 watt.Regardless, in concept, your approach would probably work.....marginally. However, I think it would preferable to use two amplifiers in a passive-biamp setup and then insert a line-level attenuator on the input of one amplifier to match levels to your preference.
FYI, the LFT-VIII woofer filter is not well implemented and the driver shrieks noticeably at higher frequencies. (About 3khz)
