Dear Inmates,

If you didn't see Cynthia's YouTube from 2019 Axpona, please watch it. This was intended to make you (the Inmates) look good. (It was my intention to do something similar again next month at Axpona, but the show was delayed to August---which may never happen).

When some of you engage in personal attacks, it is at odds with the premise that Inmates are regular people. The idea of the 2019 Axpona dinner was to show that Inmates are much like the rest of us, except we love electrostatic and ribbon speakers (how weird is that?).

When I got to know Cynthia as a result of the 30.7 tour, it was striking how much a 22 year-old woman has in common with middle-aged Inmates such as Josh, Tim, Dan and Troy. A dinner, as opposed to a panel discussion at the show, is a better way to show the personalities of the Inmates (Josh is obviously the "professor").

A private meeting room at a restaurant is the best venue for a video. We all went to Shaw's Crab House in Schaumburg (highly recommended). Cythina produces these videos as a hobby. There is no money in it for her. It was my idea and I offered that Magnepan would foot the bill. However, there are a few rules. At the dinner, I made it clear that sex, politics, religion and Magnepan were not appropriate topics for the dinner. I did not want this to be perceived as an infomercial. It is a PR effort in your behalf. So, when an Inmate makes a personal attack, I am embarrassed. Those of you that do not approve of such online behavior need to speak up.

P.S. The plan for the dinner at Axpona 2020 was "Audio reviewers meet their subscribers". Alan Sircom (editor of HiFi+), Michael Fremer and Andy Quint of TAS had agreed to represent the audiophile press. Galina and I were planning to help Cynthia with the video work. I know everyone involved and it would have been a fun and entertaining dinner/video. But, the coronavirus got in the way.
