I drive my LRS with a quality 100wpc tube amp in a large room, roughly 34x
20x9, speakers on a short wall. I like what I hear. I think bass is
adequate. I listen mostly to acoustic jazz, classical, and bluegrass/
folk/country.
I go back and forth: (1) do I buy better (probably SS) amplification and
keep the LRS? (2) do I keep the amplification I have and buy 1.7s? or (3)
buy 1.7s AND better amplification?
Reasonably priced high powered quality solid state amplification is in
short supply. Schiit is the cheapest; Van Alstine, Benchmark, and Anthem
seem so far to be the best alternatives.
As for high power tube amplification, price quickly becomes prohibitive.
