Yes, I'm aware of the mechanism employed in the QUAD 63.
However, a true point source has a spherical radiation pattern.
Now, if you qualify what you mean by "effective" point source, then we would probably find common ground.

Your subjective evaluation of the "coherent" qualities of the 2912 is valid, subjectively, but that speaker is not a truly coherent speaker, acoustically.

Time-coherent, phase-coherent, point-source, and various other labels are played with too fast and loose by the audiophile community and dilutes their definitions.
