RE: Loved my Innersound ESL on my SL Pristines...

The last time I checked, the Innersound amps weight was north of 40 pounds. That's not exactly bantam weight. These are similar in design to Roger Sanders amps ...that's where he was employed prior to starting his own company and refining the design. The Sanders amps are even heavier, BTW.

I get what you're saying about the weight thing and getting older. Having shipped my Magtech back to Roger once for a thermal transistor replacement was a backbreaker.

My suggestion is to consider the option mentioned in the discussion below. At the time I decided to ship my Magtech back and wasn't sure how long the repair would take I bought back-ups so I wouldn't be months without music (it only took Roger a week, which was unexpected given my experience with boutique audio manufacturers like Art Ferris of Audible Illusions).

What I purchased was a pair of Wyred4Sound SX1000R monoblocks. These are relatively inexpensive Class D amps (around $3600 per pair) that run cool at high volume and they weigh around 13 ponds each. The manufacturer claims over 600wpc into 8 Ohms, over 1200wpc into 4 Ohm loads.

These amps are quite stable in tough loads, but I'm a little dubious of the power specs since there are no heat sinks. That said, given the efficiency of the Class D design and how it has been implemented here, I have no complaints. In fact, these little amps really surprised me.

Cheers,
AuPh
