Drivers that have highish Qts exhibit a peak in response that needs to be equalized. Some users utilize the baffle dimensions (via front/back cancellation) to equalize that peak. (This is actually how Magnepan's work.)However, you also have the option to equalize electronically and create whatever response you want....depending upon how you baffle it.
The vast majority of available woofer drivers nowadays have fairly strong motors. They are excellent drivers in all respects, but they would require electronic equalization in nearly all open-baffle setups.Dave.
