... I like the additional mass. The added weight increases the overall stability of Maggie's light framework. Not having an engineering background I can't assess how well your design compares with what my ears are telling me works with the Mye stand design.
Theoretical concepts are intriguing and always ...or almost always... look interesting on paper, but the difficulty of fabricating a DIY stand using complicated engineering principles is just too daunting for some folks. Also, the only way one could realistically assess the properties of both designs are through an unbiased series of A/B comparisons.
If one design proved better in overall listening tests than the other, then that design should be deemed superior, notwithstanding caveats, but that's where the rubber meets the road. There would still have have to be a cost benefit analysis discussion taking into account all of the advantages and disadvantages of both designs (for instance, shipping, construction costs, labor, user compatibility, long term structural integrity, etc.).
What you've demonstrated is a theoretically brilliant design, but without substantive real world comparisons to back it up. I don't think anyone is closed minded to your inventive design (I'm sure not; I think it's a super cool idea), but for those of us who are delighted with the benefits provided by current Mye stands, you're going to have to make a stronger case ...not just on paper... that you've designed and built a better mouse trap.
Cheers,
AuPh
