Agree, and if cost is the issue I'd personally go with a used MG2.5 with the true ribbon tweeter (a speaker decades ahead of its time IMO), or the 2.7 a 3-way quasi ribbon panel they're both offered for $700 on USAaudiomart. The money saved on sub(s) could go towards a tt, dac, amp upgrade etc.
In my opinion this is where the MMG class speakers have the potential to backfire when folks return them during their trial period because they cannot fill large rooms, and then walk away from Maggies altogether.
