My W4S 1000 monoblock amps work exceptionally well with my Maggies (3.7i). I also have a Magtech amp (class A/B) that works well, but is currently in storage. Both are phenomenal amplifiers, but given the efficiency, much lighter weight, cool running and clean, extended top/bottom end, the edge goes to the W4S monoblock class D amps.Note: earlier this year I sent my Magtech back to have the Motorola thermal transistors changed out as the unit was running warmer to the touch than normal and since the early Motorola transistors had reported failures, discontinued & replaced, Roger Sanders agreed to replace them free of charge. Sanders Sound's lifetime warranty is a nice selling point for their beefy units.
Sound-wise, both amplifiers are excellent performers, based on lengthy experience with each, but doing side by side comparisons in the near term is a chore given the size and weight of the Magtech amp. From recollection, the Magtech has a slightly sweeter top end, but both amps are well balanced over the entire spectrum and can handle power thirsty Magnepans without the slightest strain.
Cheers,
AuPh
