had issues with sibilance when I had my MG1.6s but

a Mills resistor and fake ficus tree behind the panels took care of that.

"Raspy" voices to me sounds like unusually high distortion somewhere down stream.

Or, you could take a bright flashlight and shine it close to the ribbon tweeter to see if any abnormalities (wrinkle?) might be going on back there.
