Amps of course will warm up but heat is found just about in every aspect of a system. Speakers react by energy, and energy creates motion, motion creates heat, maybe "not that much" but some nonetheless. Preamps also create heat; ditto for a needle riding within a groove. Spinning CDs will create energy as well. Hell while we're at it, sound waves strike hairs within our inner ears, which in turn moves the 'anvil striking our ear drums', this energy is of course registered within the brain. At the risk of sounding like a guru, I believe the 'synergy' of a good system are those that unite this energy and disperse it in a welcoming manner.
