Interesting opinion. Since Magneplanar has been using short metal stands in production speakers since the beginning, it's doubtful that increasing the rigidity via metal bracing would introduce significantly more problems than the shorter stands. That said, I see no reason why light-weight, rigid wood stands wouldn't work well too.
So, which kind of exotic wood bracing do you think produces the most balanced sound field?
