That's very useful. All of the comments here will help my decision making.

My Quad amp sounds sweet on a lot of material and hasn't run out of steam, but at times it doesn't sound effortless on complex music passages with crescendos. I'll likely be looking at the Sander's Magtech as my first option. That would allow me to ease the Quad amp back into my smaller secondary system where it wasn't pushed so hard.

One of the amazing aspects of the Maggies is how they reveal so much detail and subtle information about how the recordings were made (both good and bad). These speakers have opened a lot of doors that I'd become convinced were closed to me.

BTW, everyone's POV is greatly appreciated.
