I did come across something somewhere where they drilled out the rivets holding those tuning dots on, laid the wire then reattached the dots with small screws & nuts. The alternative is to thread a whole lotta wire under those dots... or buy a pop-rivet tool. Of course, one can never have too many tools.
This is what happens when you take your time and let the acetone work.
On my way to get that pop-rivet tool and then lay down the new wire.
