Anyone ever soldered a wire break on their panels?

Earlier this year when I re-wired the panels on my MG2.5r's, one of the wires broke. I "fixed" it by knotting the wire and applied some of that stuff from a Circuit Tracer pen. Fast forward a bit and I noticed the un-repaired speaker was noticeably louder than the other. With a bit of troubleshooting, I found the repaired speaker was reading 12-ohms on a multimeter. If I have to order a re-wire kit from Magnepan so be it but if soldering the wires together will fix it, I'm willing to give that a go. So, asking the experts, is soldering the aluminum wire feasible? Has anyone out there had any experience with this?
TIA
