RE: p gunn's crossover mods questions

For illustration purposes, we're looking at the diaphragm side of a Maggie, wires glued to Mylar. The other side is where the metal pole-piece is. Yes, it is a different model, but the principal is the same. Is the metal pole-piece not on the side of the speaker facing the listener on the MG2b's? If so, feel free to leave it that way!

On my Quasi-Gunned MMG's, I did turn the driver around so the pole-piece faced forward. I like how it sounds that way. My MG-2.5R's are originally made this way because Magnepan did it that way back then.
Backing up a bit, I call my MMG's are termed Quasi-Gunned because I did the work myself and varied from the original receipt a bit.

I myself, don't quite understand a "series" crossover but it still works. The Jupiter beeswax and Mundorf caps are already very good caps but the mod's improvement doesn't solely on the price of the caps you use. I used different (less expensive) caps on the MMG's and it sounds awesome.

About the wiring. Lifting the socks also lets you examine the speaker just to see what conditin everything is in. Wiring as suggested in the mod also lets you bypass alot of low grade wiring and solder connections that Magnepan uses. Once modded, these speakers are good enough that this matters.

Oh yeah, never mind what's going on in the pic. That's another whole discussion :^)
