Agree with others - Keep the MMG's, do not worry about the 12's. I suspect 1.7 would be too big for your room, MMG are 'just right'. MMG have excellent upgrade potential, they sound great out of the box and outstanding with some mods. Modded MMG's sound very close to as good as, though 'smaller' than, 1.7's. This based on my personal experience and is dependant on room size.
Suggestions
-Hone in on placement. Then work on it some more ;)
-Add a nice clean sealed sub
-ONLY if you need more spl's, get a bigger amp. If you are happy with the current volume, leave it alone.
