RE: EmotivaPro and MMGs (log sorry but need feedback)

interesting!!!
I have not heard the EmotivaPro. However, I've have heard (and own) several nice sets of mini monitors. They have their points.
- spl falls off at 6db/m instead of 3db/m. This does make them sound smaller, not 'room filling' sound for the casual listener.
- when carefully placed and sitting right in the sweet spot, mini monitor can throw a very enjoyable presentation, dissapearing into a big soundstage
- MMG is a tough act to beat. They have enormous surface area compared to ALL mini monitors and huge resolution compared to most or all mini monitors.
- MMG has huge potential for upgrading
- MMG can handle a lot of power and go very loud
- MMG bass is severly affected by placement. It can be too strong or very weak. It is always very clean. I have a very hard time believing the Emotivapro, $300 version with 4" driver can compete except at very low levels.

The Emotivapro looks intriguing due to the facts of low price, good sound, and self amplified. Honestly, as cheap as electronics and watts are getting, I expect to see more and more high-quality self amplified systems. Active internal EQ and amp can compensate for all manner of driver limitations, cheaply and easily. It is the way of the future.
