RE: Maggies and 'chest thump'

When I feel the need for chest thump I just make like King Kong, roar and all. It's fun, makes the kiddos giggle.

I've not heard a 'nice' system make the 'chest thump' / 'slam' / choose your recently used descriptor for 'bass boost'. I think that's what it is: elevated mid-bass levels (I think around 80+hz), boom boom boom.

I admit I run the sub 'hot', but in the low and subsonic frequencies - lowest notes on organs, various movie sound effects etc. 40hz and lower. Not a chest thump, more of an 'Oh no, the aliens spacecraft is landing in the backyard again' effect.

Exception would be very high playback levels, then yes it'll be pounding along, and hearing will be damaged.
