I've used Behringer and QSC - happy with results. I've not owned high-end home amps so cannot comment on direct comparisons, but they have all seemed to sound the same, and sound the same as my various receivers. The pro-amps are great bang for the buck IMHO. Drawbacks seems to be limited to cosmetics and fan noise. I've been really enjoying my QSC GX3, pure class B, over 400wpc into the 1.7's. The combo sounds phenomenal (to my 'brass ears' at least!)
