Hey, I see we're the same age, but on different sides of the country. If it weren't for that, I'd be seriously begging to come by for a listen.
The standard crossover upgrades (better inductors & caps) work very well for these speakers as well. The great thing is that it's alot simpler to do than the 3x series Maggies. Before I got the 2.5's, I had a pair of MMG's that were Quasi-Gunned. Those things had tons of low level and inner detail and were still easy to listen to. In fact, in stock form, the mids easily beat the 2.5's. The highs & lows were no match for the 2.5's larger woofers & ribbons tho'. Once I get my hardwood frames built to go along with the improved crossovers, these babies will be raised to a whole 'nuther level ;^)
