Back before I Gunned my MMG's, I switched them from a MMG 1st-Gen crossover to a MG12 spec crossover. Not having heard a MG12 but reading here that they were supposed to have better mids and having read here that other's had done this, I made the switch. Judging solely by my own ears, I liked the change. What I did alter was using a 2.7mH Erse 16ga inductor on the woofer in place of the stock 2.8mH value.
This is the first time I've heard of anyone going the other way and putting a MMG spec crossover on a MG-12.
FWIW, the SMG and MMG crossovers are not similar at all.
