Picked up a new (to me) set of planars yesterday. A nice tidy desktop system. Very clear, detailed sound, expansive sound field and nice bass for it's size. No no, not the Mini-Mags, the Monsoon MM-700 system :)
All in all, a nice sounding package. A common characteristic with small Maggies tho', too much back tilt. I supposed this is good for PC desktop use, but I think raised amd more vertical would be better. I tried 'em hooked up to an I-Touch and then my Sony ES receiver's headphone jack and then the receivers pre-amp outputs. This revealed another common trait with Maggies. The better the source, the better the sound. Seems almost a pity to use them with just a PC. In a pinch, a source-a passive pre-and these would make a nice mini system. I can post a pic when I'm done playing with them a bit =^)
