Are both channels the same?
Originally, we used the middle panel with the greatest (least-tied-down) radiating area, because it would have the lowest resonant frequency. By placing it between the outer mid/bass panel and the tweeter panel, the rear wave cancellation was a little less as well, since the outer panels served as baffles.
The speaker actually had four resonant frequencies in the bass, about 10 Hz apart. The middle was lowest with no tie downs. The outer mid/bass panel had three, the three sections growing progressively smaller near the top (the thinking was that the lower resonance section should be near the floor).
Hope that helps.
Best regards,
Jim Smith
