Greetings,
I tried the Parasound JC-1 and did not warm up to their sound with my 3.6's. A bit sterile, lifeless, and uninvolving. Not bad sound, just not involving. I have heard them better with other speakers. I liked the Quicksilver silver monos on top, and the 14BSST on bottom best, or the Bryston 7BST on bottom. The 7BSST and 14BSST on bottom were the most dynamic, the Silver mono on top was the most organic, full bodied. I have used both an external Xover with the Marchand XM44 and XM26, both of which were spectacular in different ways. Stock Xover points were used and a sub Xover at 50Hz. With the 7BSST or 14BSST on bottom and the 4BSST on top, dynamics were startling, but giving up a bit of the tube magic. I have found the speaker (3.6) very sensitive to speaker cable, especially with SS equipment. I would try some different speaker cable. I tried some cheap stuff like the AQ CV4.2, and it was great. There are some great AQ buys on EBAY. I tried about 8 different cables before the match was more balanced. Your work has just begun. After some tweaking, you may just find that the gunned mod was a step forward. Rarely does a tweak just make everything perfect. Balance and attention detail moves one forward. If you are in CA, you can borrow some of mine and see if some make magic for you. I have about 6-8 different speaker cables to try. Listen to solid core, stranded, copper, litz copper, and silver coated copper. You willbe amazed how different they all sound. Happy listening, Jallen
