Pretty cool that your wrote the manual for the 1-D . . .

Just means I'm old...

The progression of the six panel Tympanis, with approximate one year intervals -

T-1(U)
T-1A
T-1B
T-1C
T-1D

I had them all. The worst of the lot - IMO - was the T-1A, which had an unbearably hard sounding tweeter - - an outgrowth of Jim's efforts to get a more extended treble.

The 1D was the first lower impedance Tympani - previously, all all been 8 ohms. We also moved the tweeter inward on the panel for a slightly more cohesive sound.
