That is a great combination that has absolutely something special going on with it. I have the same combination. I also have the Marantz 8b, 5, and 2s along with the Heath UA2s, Citation II and Futterman. The MC225 is awesome even among this company. The MC30s don't even come close.
This is the only vintage tube mac I like and it is exceptional as you discovered with the esl's. Want a sleeper that is just as good, maybe better? Try the Sherwood 5000II with 7868s it is phenomenal with the esls at a fraction of the price.
