Greetings,
I agree with the potential of the 3.6 in the bass. The bass is very impressive, but there is some music where a well integrated sub will add to the listening experience. I have had both the James 1500 and a pair of JL 113 subs in and they both added to the musical experience. There is more dynamic slam, more explosiveness, and greater authority. I have heard a REL sub in a friends Maggie 20.0 system and thought it was slower/thicker than both the james and JL subs. Perhaps it needed more dialing in, I can't be sure as it was not my system.
I am using the Marchand XM44 and it is performing very well. I am using the 250/200 Xover points. I have used the 7BST in the bass and the 4BSST in the midtreble and now use the 4BSST in the Bass and a tube amp for the mid treble. This has provided the best overall balance. For the mid treble, I have also used the Quicksilver silver mono which were superb, the V4's also good, a little too warm though, and the RM9 MKII which was a little forward. I am using a custom built tube amp with v-caps and 80wpc. Jallen
