The stock Xover is barely adequate. It fits the budget range of the speaker, but you can do much better active. Try the Marchand XM44, and as much as I like Mac gear get Bryston 4BSST or 14BSST or later and they are just magic, or get a good tube amp for the top. I have also liked the 7BST on the bass and it is superb. Maggie and Bryston are just one of the magical combos. I use tubes on top and the 4BSST on the bottom, and I switch out with Silver Mono Quicksilvers on top. The BRyston 4BSST on top and 7BST on bottom was magical. More tubey than tubes in a good way, grainless, sweet, dimensional and believable. I crossover at 50hz on the bottom, and the mid/hi where Maggie recommends. I use a James 1500 on the bass. With a 14BSST, you really don't have to have a sub unless you want to feel the music. Jallen
