If you did not see my other post on the amp comparison we did, we tried the 3.6 maggie with a biamp setup using tubes on top and from 80-250Hz, several SS amps. First the big Proton which was OK, then the Rotel 1080 with 450wpc into 4 ohms, which was a bit better, the Bryston 4BST which was better, but clipped at moderate-high levels 91-93dB at 1 meter, and the Coda/Legacy at 660wpc which was the best, and had no problem. The maggie needs 500 plus wpc to drive in biamp range and especially in full range where you will be driving the sub80Hz signals. That is the reason I crossed over so high is to relieve the lower amp of power consuming duties. If a 4BST is tapped out....there is some serious power consumption occuring. We were just playing jazz, not metal. The dynamic swings just suck up the power in an usual way. The tube amp was the Quicksilver Silver mono on top and just coasted. Hope this helps. There is a reason maggie uses the new 14B Bryston with huge power output. In the past, they used 4 7BST Bryston amps at the show, on 1 speaker. They know the requirements of the speaker and if you want some padding, this is what you will have to do. Single ended amps don't cut it here, Jallen
