RE: please help..active crossover question?? maggie 3.6?

I just finished assembling 3 XM44's, one for me, the other two for friends. This is a very good Xover, much better than an Ashley we tried earlier which collapsed the stage and sounded very small. I am still in the process of dialing in the sound with the adjustments for my room. I feel there is a lot of potential here for better sound than passive. I liked the passive, and had great sound, but I wanted to try what so many have raved about. I left the internal tweeter Xover intact for now. I used the factory recommendations of 200/250 Xover points, and in addition, I added a 80Hz crossver so the 3.6 does nothing below 80Hz, and the sub handles all of that. This really has opened up the 3.6 dynamically. I use the James EMB1500 and this is really quite a good sub for the panels as it is very fast. More information to be shared in the future. With regard to the XM44's, I got the full kit forms, and plan on 2-3 days of assembly, if you are skilled at soldering. You will be good at soldering by the end or you will have a butchered board. The power supply, modules, main board take a lot of time to solder in all the parts. Not hard, just time consuming. Happy listening, Jeff
