I have tried the Spectron big class D amp and the Nu Force amp with the Maggie 3.6 and they were both less than ideal. They controlled the panel well, had tight, but pinched and lean bass, and the midrange was just too dry and the "S" notes were way over the top. I could last about 3 minutes with either one. Very disappointing sound. I have stated this several times before in other posts, but the Quicksilver Silver Monos were just much better with the 3.6 than either the Nuforce of Spectron, by a very large margin. I would classify the class "D" amps as unlistenable with the 3.6. I have heard them work in other speaker-amp combinations, but this one didn't work. For SS, I did like the ARC D300, which was better than the other two. The D400 is said to also work well. The D300 was just a tad dry, but not aggressive. The Bryston 4BST was also tried, and was too lean, not overly aggressive, but way too thin on the midrange. The bass was far more believable dynamic, and textured with the tubes. All I can say is try the Quickies if you can get a pair of them. They are magic on the 3.6. I tried the V4, and they were only OK. I sold them and kept the Silver monos. I have two pair and will next try an external Xover/XM44 and two pair....should rock, and I will put in V-caps...wow, this could get real good. I already have upgraded caps in the Silver monos ...polystyrenes) If you are in Central CA, you are welcome to have a listen and see what I am talking about.
