RE: Anyone sent out their 3.6 Xover`s and......

I am in the process of assembling 3 XM44's, one for me, the other two for friends. I have the 3.6 as does another friend, the other the 20.1. I have been happy with the current external X-over and have tried the XM26, and I preferred the stock external Xover. I use silver jumpers and silver speaker cables, Cardas Rhodium binding posts (big improvement). The XM44 is going to get internal silver/Teflon wire, and every tweak I can think of. They were purchased as kits and they are not that easy to assemble due to poorly written directions. Now that I have just about finished one, the other two are going to be easy. The directions now make sense.......????
If I can be so bold and compare my system with what we heard at the CES show this year, involving me and two other phile friends....well, I first have to say that I have had the luxury of tweaking my system for about a year so this definitely helps, CES companies get a day. That being said, I did not hear one system I would rather have, even if I could afford it. I liked what a lot of them sounded like , but none had it all. None of them had the treble of the Maggie. The MBL had a great treble, very open, not harsh, but dull at lower volume, and not as detailed as the Maggie. The big Wilsons were grand indeed, but the treble failed to impress in comparison to the Maggie. They had better bass, but the Maggies are not for those who want bass. That is why I have a James EMB 1500. If I can get things a bit better with the XM44, I will be very happy. One of my friends has the new Legacy Whisper 13K models, and tells me he wants to get them sounding as good as the 3.6's. Indeed kind words. All I am saying is don't think you have gotten everything out of the 3.6's yet. They have enormous potential.......WE will see how much more.............Jallen
