RE: Pass Amps built like a tank.... reliable as ...heck

Regarding the Pass, they are known to work with Maggies. I just had the Bryston 4BST driving the 3.6's, compared them with the Spectron 500wpc amp and they were close, with transparency going to the Spectron, dynamics to the Spectron, but better texture to the Bryston. that being said, they were both too thin, and hard and metallic in the sacred midrange. I am using a tube Quicksilver preamp, not known for being bright in the least. It is very forgiving. Both amps to me would not be listenable in the long term with my system. I was using the Marantz SA-11, and I was so happy to return to my tubes. The SS amps just sound so pinched and thin. They may work in another room and another setup. I like the Bryston driving the Aerial 10T and that match is great, but not with the Maggie 3.6 here.
