Since you didn't mention it, I assume we are in agreement vs. the nominal impedance of the bass panels?
Your IVa's may have larger drivers than my IV's, I don't know. I think the midrange was supposed to be longer, therefore allowing a lower crossover point to the bass drivers.
When building the replacement crossovers (mid to high only) I did use the IVa design. It seems to sound better than the older IV design. Additionally, I operate the midrange panels to a lower -3dB point of ~360Hz vs. the stock IV point of 500Hz. Really seems to help out in upper bass and fills out male voice, etc.
