RE: Bi-amping

Unfortunately, the bass drivers do deliver quite a bit of sound into the midrange. You are right that speed and power are important. 500W is a good benchmark. A problem with SS amps, maybe especially, and certainly ironically with high power amps is compressed dynamics. Probably due to lots of global feedback, when compared to much lower powered tube amps, they can sound sort of dead, missing microdynamics, etc.

I don't have enough experience/knowledge to suggest a really good bass amp to you. I'm sure lots of other guys in the group do. It's been sugested to me that an Electron Kinetics Eagle 7a is a great amp for the purpose. I recognize my own SS amps as the weakest point in my system and as I've mentioned here before, building a hybrid tube/MOSFET is definitely in my future.
