which is now runs the Parts and Connextion company of which maintains the vintage Sonic frontiers gears told me that the Tesla tubes (Brimar) would sound much better with them. So I bought a NOS (4) matched pairs Brimar tubes from him which of course sounded much better than the Sovtek and the Mullards before with this pre amp.The Brimar tubes does have a very neutral sound to it with an excellent bottom end control not as lush and a little thin as the Mullard or airy and wobbly as the Sovtek however they do present a compromise on vocals as it’s not as pristine sounding as the Mullard so I supposed you can’t have everything. Although overall for what it’s worth, I’d much prefer the Brimar tube from those two tubes that I’ve mentioned above.
