While I have never been a Bryston fan, I think the LS-16 would be the clear winner of the two you mentioned.
The front end is the most important point in the amplification chain so a wise choice here is critical.
The LS-16 can be made even better by replacing the supplied Sovtek 6922's with better tubes. I have had great luck using the Tesla/JJ 6922's in ARC units.
The highs open up after about 15 hours use.
