Re: The Soundlab U-1s survived!

The best audition I ever had was listening to Soundlabs, one of the less costly ones I think (sold for $3.5K in '93). Although I don't remember the amps used, they were each driven by monoblocks, with a Wadia CD player used only as a transport, an external Muse DAC and a hybrid tube preamp.

The sound was the best holographic stereo I've ever heard. And that's including Maggies. It wasn't all due to the Soundlabs, but when the salesman changed to some Acarian Elons that had just come out(great box speakers, BTW), some of the magic was gone.

If I could afford the Soundlabs, that would be the way I'd go. No offense to the M-L fans, but the 2 demos I had with them could not come close to what I heard from the SL's. The Logans were brittle or thin by comparison.

You setup looks really nice! I'm sure you're enjoying them.
