Welcome! Need support, you got it. Or share your ideas and experiences.

You're most certainly welcome to you opinion

but my observation holds true in my experience. Sorry. You seem to be a more visually oriented individual.

I don't care if Ralph the Dog created a musical recording. I perceive sound the same way. It's certainly true that for most recordings, the image is quite artificial sounding. For many minimally miked ones in my collection, however, the results are quite convincing. How I listen to it and how I judge its merit is the same. Just as I judge the merit of live venues, be they amplified or not. Wifey's business took us to Chicago this spring and I was able to attend the CSO and get great seats. That Ravel themed concert was wonderful!

Isn't it likely that the perception of space and depth that we get from the same system and especially differing systems (even those with "Crappy" systems) will be different for you and me.

Absolutely. Once again, that could be said about anything heard or seen. Actually, all electronics impede the perception - just to varying degrees. My systems have never had the phenomenal transparency of HP's Room 3.

Some people never hear the "Image" that cannot "imagine" it. My wife of 36 years is an example.

Sorry about that. While my wife is a pharmacist, she also sings (has been in barbershop quartet competitions) and plays the piano. When we were dating in the mid eighties, she loved hearing the system . And still does. One of her favorites is Amanda from Amanda McBroom's "Growing up in Hollywood Town" on Sheffield. Which is a pearl musically and of stellar recording quality. When I first got the Sound Lab speakers, she wanted that track played first. Afterwards, her response was "They're not there. The speakers disappear". Naturally, she meant sonically and not visually! And conversely, I love getting a regular dose of live music via her baby grand . :)

I can listen to a lot of differing system and enjoy them...

As do I. I spend more time listening to the Advents in the garage than the main system. I just like being outside. That's where I'm headed as I have a home project to start.

So the other possibility is that the vision is so strong a reality that the acoustics "imagery" does happen in her mind.

I suspect your wife is simply not as aware of the localization of mundane soundfields we hear everyday as are others. That's certainly not meant to be an attack - just an observation. Whatever the case is for her, it is not for me. Nor my wife. And certainly not recording greats like Wilma Fine Cozart. She helped Harry with his systems to get the best image.
