RE: Opening MGIIIs -- I chickened out!

Great response and perfect explanation, DNM. Thanks. I'm stiffening my backbone and getting ready to attempt this again. Meanwhile, I ran through some frequency sweeps with a Sheffield test CD today and found that I do have some significant rattles at some of the lowest frequencies. So, obviously, there are some issues with the state of the wires on the panels. While my casual listening hadn't revealed those issues previously, I'm not at all surprised by them. Given the age of the speakers and how and where they'd been stored for the last 5+ years, I figured there had to be issues there. Now I've got to decide whether to attempt to tackle them myself or whether to ship them back to the factory. I'll keep you posted. You've been a big help.
