Well, chest thump can be felt but You would have to play pretty darn loud.
I have experienced it once at home. Not with planars for sure, but with a pair of speakers with one tweeter, one mid and one 12" woofer.I turned the bass upp all the way on the amplifier and played P.O.V "Nuff O f The Ruff Stuff".
I actually started to cough from all the air pressure hitting my chest. And never mind that a lot of subharmonic sounds in music does NOT come from natural sources. Who actually cares!? There are electronic music out there too.
And if the producer of the record wanted You to hear and feel the bass then You are out of luck if Your speakers can't do that for You.
The thing is, can't Your speaker reproduce everything in a good manner, then it's flawed.
It, may be pretty darn good, but flawed. hehe
The one who succeeded was the one who didn't know it was impossible.
