RE: Good grief

I've heard all of the examples I mentioned live and not always the best seats and not in quaint or smallish clubs.

Well duh, we've been through that already in this thread. Sure, go to a night club fitted with horrendous speakers with volumes cranked up 100% and you'll no doubt experience the constant uninterrupted 'thump'. All night long. But how does that resemble music?

I've been to live performances by the likes of Joe Satriani where it was literally impossible to tell whether it was the guitar soloing, or the bass, or the keyboard, or the drums. If you closed your eyes, it all sounded exactly the same -- just a whole pile of unrelenting chest thumps. I couldn't even hear the pitch, just a constant nosebleed blaring of 'thump! thump! thump!'

I couldn't believe I've paid that much money for such a shitty performance. How's that music?
