OK guys maybe you missed my point, try to keep an open mind on this. I believe you can tune your system so only a very few recordings sound spectacular (tune=components/cables). I know on my systems I can make one or two CDs sound absolutely awesome. I can tilt the system so one particular CD is reproduced as good as it can get. But, that really makes all my other CDs sound weak and thin. So, I tune my system to be a compromise to make the majority of my CDs to sound as good as possible. I still have a small selection of really good recordings but the rest of my music still sounds good. I guess you can argue that the system is compromised and I'll agree but what's the point of having a system that can only play a handful of recordings and everything else sounds like crap?
If you are in the camp where you think all amps and cables sound the same, this reply is not meant for you. Anyway, do you guys get what I'm saying?
Thanx, Russ
