RE: If some is good, and more is better then too much

Hey Jim,

Sorry I should have linked to my earlier post. The Dynamat is not sandwiched between the frame and the driver. I didn't do a thing to the mounting. I just put dynamat on top of the driver frame and the mdf, and on the back of the pole pieces.

So there is no floating of the driver as you mention. The theory is that the mdf sends back vibrations into the driver frame and then the mylar and that clouds resolution. I was attempting to soak up some of that vibration before it makes it to the mdf.

THis definitely DOES work and increases the resolution significantly.

Wouldn't Corian also reflect back vibrations?

I read many of the long arguments here years ago about mdf vs. wood and it seemed like the textbook arguments were overturned when everyone went to wood frames.

Anyhow this experiment to me at least validates the claim that the vibrations do get channeled back to the mylar and decrease resolution. We may differ on how to stop this from happening, but it seems that that is what is going on.

I can hear so much more into the recording then before adding a few strips of dynamat....
