I had a pair of SMGs powered them with a Crown DC 300A with excellent results. Over time I have changed preamps, speakers, sources except my Rega TT, but I have not replaced the Crown. Other mentions of this amps place in my system have drawn some criticism - Oh well. I have auditioned several pro and audiophile type amps and have not been moved to change for the $$$ it would cost. Instead I have used those $$$ to upgrade other parts of the system. I am at the point now where I will either look to make a "quantum" improvement in my source or amplification or both, but I do not settle for small improvements as they are often just differences, do not satisfy over the long run and waste $$$. My experience is that there are good amps in the pro and audiophile sectors and none should be dismissed else you increase the probability of missing those rare high value ones (keepers).
