design, IC’s and parts quality of power supply and or transformer has something to do with it. Krell and ML in their early days used to have fans however as the technology improves they were able to do away with it much to the delight of the audiophile community as they don’t have to worry about fan noises intruding into their listening room.Having said that most of the weight that Krell, ML and or ARC carries are mostly in their power supply and or transformers as most of the fins/heat sinks and body are mostly made from solid aluminum billets and they don’t weight that much.
