Please note that I am not trying to discount the "high end" market. I know it and I believe there are many products in it that have merit.Audio systems are like cars. There are those owners that will replace every part on the car if there is a better one made aftermarket. Replace all fuel and brake lines with braided stainless and billet connectors. They just want it trick! And much of what they do does indeed affect the performance, and much of what else is there is possibly prestige (or certainly pride of ownership), and aesthetic considerations.
But for me, a stock vehicle with less than $1000 worth of common sense mods would be all it takes to make me happy.
Some folks buy Rolls/Bentley, others Lexus/Toyota; some H1's, others Jeeps. There is a staggering difference in the price tags, and some folks will feel the difference is necessary, and others won't.
I am a Jeep/Lexus type guy now... but I did come from the dark side.
