J,
Glad to hear things are going well for you wife!!
I am glad you tried the magwire. This is an amazing hobby and we don't really know all there is to know about it....like why 26g wire works and sounds pretty good with maggies. Commend yourself for having an opened mind.
Now, do keep in mind that this is a test. One of the things you will need to do if you determine that you like the clean sound they yield is to figure out how to dress them and make them more durable. YOu also have to shield them from vibration as this can hurt the bass.
Here is an example of my 28g bass cables:

They do need about 24hrs of burn in to sound their best. Also, do keep in mind that they take some getting used to. What you are getting is very clean sound. Most cables muck up the sound and that is the sound we are used to. When you go to a clean cable, it can take a while to get used to not having all that "muck"...so listen to them for a week or so without switching back to the thick cables. You'll know what I am talking about when you put the thick stuff back in.
Think of it this way: you grow up with a public water system that has about 30% mud in the water. But you have been drinking this "water" your whole life. SO when someone gives you pure water you feel like you are missing something: there is no brown haze to the water, no gritty texture, no aftertaste, etc. You might even feel cheated when you get water at restaurants. Most cables are like this muddy water...we have become so used to their muck that we expect it and think we are being cheated if it isn't there.
But once you hear your tunes without the muck, it will be hard to go back.
Also, let me know about the highs.
